Our soft drinks industry is regulated by ministry of health and social protection, INVIMA and ICA.
The ministry of health and social protection created the resolution 003929 of 2013 which establishes the technical regulation on the sanitary requirements that must be met by fruit and beverages with added juice or fruit pulp or fruit concentrates, clarified or not, or the mixture of which is processed, packaged , transport, import and market in the Colombian national territory.
The company have to fulfill the sanitaries rulers and laws that are established by the INVIMA where said how we have to handle health processes, basic conditions of hygiene in the manufacture of goods (that are stipulated in the second title of the agreement). Which kind of people can manipulate food (chapter 3 in the second title), security and quality control (chapter 5). Storage, distribution, transport, and commercialization (Chapter 7). Sanitary registration (chapter 9 in the third title) “Se exceptúan del cumplimiento de este requisito los alimentos siguientes: a. Los alimentos naturales que no sean sometidos a ningún proceso de transformación, tales como granos, frutas, hortalizas, verduras frescas, miel de abejas, y los otros productos apicolas.”
On the other hand, Colombia have another regulatory entity “ICA” which is responsible of health and food safety policies for agricultural products and industries. The resolutions are made through documents that contain government policies designed to improve safety conditions in primary food production.
In conclusion, in order for the company to be able to govern and participate in the Colombian market, it must follow some guidelines established by the government and different entities. These guidelines, laws, rules and decrees were created in order to guarantee the quality, preservation and salubrity of different products of the food industry that want to penetrate in the market.
