FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BUDGET DEFICIT:
It is said that there is a deficit when an amount is less than another with which to compare. For this particular case, the term is used for money matters. Therefore, there is a deficit when the amount of money used in all the expenses of the government of a country (expenditures) is greater than that of the money that receives (income); That is, it spends more than it has and therefore there is a deficit.
In the graph we can appreciate that the federal government Budget deficit has been increasing since 2012. For the last year 2016, the deficit was 30.5 billion pesos (about 9,166 million), which corresponds to 3.6% of gross domestic product. According with Finance Minister Mauricio Cardenas the deficit will decrease to 3,1% in 2017.
In conclusion the fiscal deficit affects us because expenses are higher than income, which will increase the value of taxes, inflation and other duties to cover the deficit.
