Social security in Colombia, as in most of Latin America, developed in response to various pressure groups. Like most economic benefits in Colombia, social security came first to those groups that had political and economic strength. Social security programs in Colombia were established by the Law 100, 1993, their main objective is to allow citizens to have a decent and high quality life, both in personal and labour aspects. Comprehensive social security consists of three elements : Health , Pension and Professional Risks.
