BUYING HABITS:
A minority of Colombian population (20%) has a high purchasing power, the price is the most important consideration for the most of Colombian consumers.
The Colombian government has introduced an attractive policy for foreign investors especially in the distribution sector. This economic opening has favored the enthusiasm of Colombians for imported products even if this trend mainly concerns the social class possessing high purchasing power. People do no care if they don’t have the money to buy their needs and wants because they know that credit exist and they have this misconception about money so they are in a consumer cycle in which they cant get out of it.
La Republica showed an investigation about how the buying habits was distributed in Colombia, the results where that the people of “estrato” 1-3 where the most that consume so they always where in debts and didn’t care while de estrato 4 was in the middle between expending in goods and services and business inversions. 5 and 6 where in savings part with investment and a better lifestyle , off course all these behaviors are based on the level of education that they had since they where young.
